Description

This fire extinguishing agent are used in military facilities, oil companies and vehicles, etc. Safequip Purple K is a dry chemical called potassium bicarbonate that is non-conductive and non-corrosive, and can be cleaned up by vacuuming, sweeping or flushing with water.

Safequip Purple K, is a potassium bicarbonate base dry-chemical fire suppression agent used in some dry powder fire extinguishers. It is the most effective dry chemical in fighting class B (flammable liquid) fires, and can be used against some energized electrical equipment fires (class C fires). It is at least 5 times more effective against class B fires than carbon dioxide and has about twice the effectiveness of sodium bicarbonate based powders. This is due to the larger size of the potassium ion. Safequip Purple K Dry Chemical Powder (DCP) works by directly inhibiting the chemical chain reaction in the combustion zone of flammable liquid fires which forms one of the four sides of the fire tetrahedron (Heat + Oxygen + Fuel + Chemical Chain Reaction = Fire) This chemical reaction produces ?free radicals? which attach themselves to the surface of the powder particles introduced into the combustion zone. This inhibits the chemical reaction forming the flame and causes the flame to cease existing. Safequip Purple K (90% Potassium Bicarbonate) is a Class BC powder and is available for use in areas such as airfields, chemical plants and refineries where superior fire extinguishing qualities are required. It is manufactured in house by Safequip along with the other Blue Crane range of SABS certified dry-chemical fire suppression agents.

Safequip Purple K is packaged in sealed buckets containing 25kg of the dry chemical powder.

The 9kg Safequip Purple K Fire Extinguisher with fire rating of 233B is SABS tested and approved in accordance with the SANS 1910 standard.
